Will Jamaica's Parliament vote in favor of becoming a Republic by the end of 2026?
Market Rules
In December 2024, the Jamaican government presented a bill in parliament to abolish the constitutional monarchy and transition the country to a republic. The bill still has to go through several stages – including scrutiny by joint committees, a vote in parliament, and a national referendum.
If by the end of 2026 the Jamaican parliament votes in favor of a change from the Monarchical to a Republican regime, this market will resolve to “Yes”, even if such transition is gradual.
This market is independent of whether or not a rational referendum is held on that subject, or of what is the result of the referendum. The only thing that matters for this market is the vote in the Jamainca parliament.
