Will Jamaica hold a referendum on becoming a Republic by the end of 2026?
Market Rules
In December 2024, the Jamaican government presented a bill in parliament to abolish the constitutional monarchy and transition the country to a republic. The bill still has to go through several stages – including scrutiny by joint committees, a vote in parliament, and a national referendum.
If by the end of 2026, Jamaica holds a national referendum about changing from a Monarchical to a Republican regime, this market will resolve to “Yes”, regardless of the result of that referendum.
