Will a new antibiotic enter the market by December 2022?
Market Rules
Bacteria resistant to antibiotics are a growing threat to our health, as even simple medical procedures, from dental surgery to chemotherapy, can become life-threatening with the risk of untreatable infections.
Predictions say that infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria will kill more than cancer in 30 years, reaching the frightening number of 10 million deaths per year. Right now, there are bacteria resistant to all 26 antibiotics available in the US.
The development of new antibacterial drugs is urgent and several candidates are currently under clinical trials, but not all will become approved drugs. If at least one new antibiotic, never approved before, enters the market between December 2019 and December of 2022, this market will be resolved as "Yes".
