Will the ButanVac vaccine be cleared for use by Anvisa by the end of 2021?
Market Rules
In April 2021, the Butantan Institute (Brazil) asked Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) for authorization to begin testing Butanvac (Butantan's vaccine candidate against Covid-19) in humans. If the immunizer is approved after all phases of testing are finished, Brazil could become less dependent on the import of ready-made doses or supply components for manufacturing vaccines, potentially speeding up and cheapening the immunization process.
Butantan Institute announced it planned to finish phase 3 clinical trials still in 2021. After that, approval will depend on Anvisa's analysis to start the application in the population.
If ButanVac is approved by Anvisa by the end of 2021 for use in the Brazilian population - regardless of whether it receives clearance for emergency use only or full approval - this market will be resolved as “Yes”.
