Will the BNT111 melanoma vaccine reach phase 3 clinical trials by the end of 2022?

Market Rules

Researchers at the German company BioNTech have begun phase 2 clinical trials of an experimental vaccine (BNT111) against a type of skin cancer known as melanoma. The idea is to treat patients who already have the disease because researchers cannot test the vaccine on healthy patients and then simply wait until they develop cancer. Despite not acting preventively, however, BNT111 can still be considered a vaccine because it works by encoding specific antigens, teaching the immune system to fight this type of cancer.

Previous data (pre-clinical and clinical) have shown the safety of the immunizing agent and, therefore, tests have advanced to assess whether the formula is effective.

If clinical trials for testing the efficacy of the BNT111 vaccine against melanoma cancer progress to Phase 3 by the end of 2022, this market will be resolved as “Yes”.
