Will the earnings of a federal representative in 2023 be higher than R$152,730 per month?

Market Rules

Besides serving as payment for federal lawmakers, the salary of senators and representatives also sets the salary cap of all categories of officials of the Legislative branch in Brazil. In 2022, the total fixed monthly earnings for a federal representative was R$149,691.59 (R$33,763 as salary and R$115,928.59 as other benefits).

This market will resolve to “Yes” if Brazil's Congress aproves, by the end of 2022, a raise in the monthly earnings of a federal representative above R$152,730.

For the sake of resolving this market, the total earnings of a federal deputy will be considered the sum of:

  1. salary;
  2. the politician’s official budget for 25 secretaries;
  3. housing allowance for lawmakers who don’t use a functional apartment in Brasília in the year of 2023.

Other variable values, such as medical bills’ refunds and quota for exercising the parliamentary activity will not be taken into consideration to calculate earnings.

Market should be closed, since we are way past the 152k per month mark.

  • Futuur: Hello, pedro_brito . That raise in the housing allowance added nearly 2,400 reais to the earnings of federal representatives, indeed. However, to reach the threshold of 152,730 the raise needed to reach 3,068.41 reais. Therefore, although the raise pushed the earnings closer to the point that resolves this market, it did not make it go beyond it alone. At least not just yet.
