Will a tax reform establish a Unique Taxation in Brazil in 2023?

Market Rules

One of the challenges for the Lula administration in Brazil is the approval of tax reform. Some of the main points under discussion concern the creation of the so-called "Unique Taxation" (Imposto Único), which would unify virtually all previous taxations under a single tax.

If a tax reform proposed is approved by Brazil's Congress in 2023 and creates a Unique Taxation (Imposto Único), this market will resolve to "Yes".

If the tax reform is rejected by Congress – or in case it is approved but does not include the creation of the so-called Unique Taxation - this market will resolve to "No".

  • Futuur: Olá, pedro_brito . No caso de uma reforma que implemente o IVA dual, o mercado não será resolvido como "Sim", posto que, como o nome já diz, esta proposta cria dois impostos. Ao unificar os impostos federais como um só e os impostos estaduais e municipais como um só, diferente do federal, a proposta afasta-se da ideia original do Imposto Único, que seria propor a arrecadação num único ato para que os recursos fossem, só então, redistribuídos pela administração pública entre os entes federativos.
