Will any member of Americanas’ directive council be arrested by the end of 2023?
Market Rules
On February 3rd, 2023, Brazilian retailer Americanas removed 6 executives, and finance and accounting directors to avoid interference in investigations into the company’s billionaire accounting inconsistency that was made public in mid-January. If fraudulent administration is detected as the origin of this situation, the company’s managers might be held criminally accountable for the inconsistency.
If by December 31st, 2023, any member or former member of Americanas’ fiscal board, board of managers, or board of directors is imprisoned in connection with the company's alleged fraudulent practices, this market will resolve to “Yes”, even if the prison sentence is converted to the semi-open regime, or if it constitutes preventive incarceration (i.e. imprisonment before a trial is over, due, for example, to concerns about the subject's capacity to obstruct justice).
