Number of Central Bank Digital Coins (CBDC) in the world at the end of 2026

This event predicts the total number of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) that will have been officially launched worldwide by December 31, 2026, 23:59:59 UTC. The Primary Designated Source (PDS) is the Atlantic Council’s CBDC Tracker, which classifies national digital currencies by development stage. The relevant count is the number of countries whose CBDCs are labeled as “Launched” on the tracker at the end of the year.
If the Atlantic Council CBDC Tracker is unavailable, inaccessible, or unclear at the time of resolution, the Secondary Confirmation Mechanism (SCM) will be confirmation from another widely recognized and credible international source tracking CBDC launches. These markets will be resolved according to the substantive outcome—the number of countries with officially launched CBDCs—rather than minor differences in terminology or presentation. If no fair determination is possible, Futuur may cancel the markets with a public explanation.
