Will the US sanction Brazil for environmental issues by the end of 2021?
Market Rules
In the first presidential debate of 2020, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden mentioned the possibility of imposing "significant economic consequences" to Brazil if the country doesn’t "stop tearing down" the Amazon forest.
If by the end of 2021 Joe Biden's administration announces the imposition of economic sanctions to Brazil as a whole, to Brazilian businesses, or Brazilian officials, explicitly based on environmental preservation issues, this market will be resolved as "Yes".
Note from the editor: When this market was first opened, the US elections of 2020 were still in progress and, at that time, the market's title included a condition: "If Joe Biden gets elected, will the US sanction Brazil for environmental issues by the end of 2021?". After Biden was elected that condition was met, and Futuur adjusted the title to "Will the US sanction Brazil for environmental issues by the end of 2021?".
