Will Joe Biden take office on January 20th?

Market Rules

Joe Biden is expected to take office as the 46th president of the United States in 2021, at the inauguration ceremony. The inauguration ceremony is traditionally held on the 20th of January, but that date was only stablished by the ratification of the 20th Amendment in 1933. Before that, the inaugurations traditionally took place on the 4th of March, but there were instances in which it took place in different dates and locations.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies has been preparing to hold the next ceremony on the traditional date, but some think the Covid-19 pandemic and Donald Trump's resistance to acknowledge Joe Biden's electoral victory might hinder those plans.

If Joe Biden does indeed take office as the 46th president of the United States as planned, at the inauguration ceremony on the traditional date of January 20, this market will be resolved as "Yes". If, for any reason, Biden does not take office on that date, this market will be resolved as "No".
