In early March 2021, Brazil's Supreme Court justice Edson Fachin annulled all the convictions imposed by the Federal Justice of Paraná on former President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Operation Car Wash. With the decision, Lula recovered his political rights and became eligible again.

In the face of the situation, the former leader of Operation Car Wash (Deltan Dallagnol) said that he sees "real chances of prescription" in the lawsuits involving former President Lula. In Brazil, corruption crimes, such as the ones Lula is accused of, expire in 16 years, but considering the former president is over 70 years old that period might be cut in half.

If by December 31, 2022, the lawsuits that were initiated against Brazil's former President Lula as a consequence of Operation Car Wash are extinguished due to the "statute of limitations for the crime" having expired - meaning the judiciary system considered the charges too old to lead to condemnations - this market will be resolved as "Yes".
