Market Rules

Ranil Wickremesinghe, six-time prime minister and ally of former president Gotabaya Rajapaksa, was elected President of Sri Lanka by the Parliament on July 20th, 2022. However, the massive popular protests motivated by inflation of over 50%, and scarcity of fuel, food, and medicine may present strong resistance to his time in office.

Sri Lanka's next presidential election is set to take place at some point before September 2024. If Ranil Wickremesinghe remains in office as president of Sri Lanka until election day, this market will resolve to “Yes”. If the election does not take place by December 31st, 2024, this market will be canceled and all active wagers will be returned to their respective forecasters at their original price.
