Will Brazil's Congress pass limited-duration terms for STF justices in 2026?
Market Rules
This event predicts whether Brazil’s National Congress will approve a constitutional amendment establishing fixed-term (limited-duration) mandates for justices of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) at any time between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026 (inclusive). The Primary Designated Source (PDS) will be official congressional records confirming approval of a constitutional amendment setting term limits for STF justices.
If Brazil’s Congress approves a constitutional amendment that establishes fixed-term mandates for STF justices during this period, this market will resolve to "Yes". Otherwise, it will resolve to "No". Approval of term limits that apply only to future justices, without affecting current justices, will still count as "Yes". If official records are unclear, the Secondary Confirmation Mechanism (SCM) will rely on consistent reporting from major Brazilian news organizations. Resolution will reflect the substantive approval of term limits, not the specific scope of retroactivity. If a definitive determination cannot be made, Futuur may cancel this market with a public explanation.
