When will the Earth's population reach 7.9 billion people?

The United Nations (UN) estimates that the world population reached 7.7 billion people in mid-2019. The same report confirms that the population continues to grow, but at a slower rate (1.1 %/year) than registered a few decades ago (2.1 %/year).
Statistical projections say that the planet Earth will have around 8.5 billion people by 2030, around 9.7 billion by 2050, and should cease growth by the end of the century, with around 10 billion people living here in 2100.
That might take a while, but how long will it take for the Earth's population to reach 7.9 billion people? This question will be resolved based on the year in which the United Nations' annual World Population Prospects report officially says the global population has reached that milestone.

- HawgWyld94: I think that anyone who bet 2020 was the correct result, but has since been allowed to sell their position, even though it has been over 2 months since 2020 ended already. They should be given a refund on their current bet, and then forced to keep their original bets, and be given an temporary Loss, if they sold their position anytime after 11:59:59.99PM on the last day of December 2020. While the rest of the bettors play until the last day of the year they had bet on when that year rolls over into the next. And if none of the 3 betting years are the correct answer, at the end of the final year, it is removed as an L for anyone who had the Temporary L, and declared no contest, returning the bets of all participants.
