Will the deadline for the United Kingdom-European Union deal be extended?
Market Rules
The United Kingdom is officially out of the European Union since January 31st, 2020. Yet, the country and the political bloc are going through the one-year transition period, in which much of rules that were in effect when the UK was part of the EU are still valid. This transition period is supposed to end on December 31, 2020, so that the new agreed rules for the relationship between the UK and the EU should come into place from January 1, 2021.
Although both parts have ruled out any kind of extension, the slow pace of negotiations and the onslaught of Covid-19 could interfere in the agreement’s outcome.
If the deadline for the referred transition period is extented beyond January 1st, 2021, this question will be resolved as "Yes".
