Taiwan and China disagree on the status of the Taiwanese territory as an independent nation under international law. This controversy has raised tensions for decades and has increased recently.
In 2020, two of the World Health Organization's member nations have asked the organization to grant Taiwan the status of observer member again. Taiwan had already held observer status in the organization from 2009 to 2016, before favoring more distant relations with China.
If by the end of 2021 Taiwan is once again allowed to become an observer member of the World Health Organization, this market will be resolved as "Yes".
