Will South Africa’s next President be a member of the ANC?

Market Rules

The National Assembly is responsible for electing the holder of this office since the promulgation of the current South African Constitution. Since 1994, all of South Africa’s presidents were members of the African National Congress (ANC) party. The next presidential election is set to happen in 2024.

If the individual who gets elected President of South Africa as a result of the elections of 2024 is a member of the ANC, this market will be resolved as “Yes”.

Alternatively, if the South African presidential election of 2024 takes place on a different date, this market may also be resolved on a different date from what was originally expected, as soon as the next President of South Africa is determined by the National Assembly.
