Will the WHO declare monkeypox as a public health emergency by the end of 2022?
Market Rules
Monkeypox outbreaks in non-endemic countries have been reported since May 2022. In the context of lingering worldwide effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s concern regarding the spread of that disease.
The World Health Organization (WHO) can declare a public health organization of international concern facing an “extraordinary event that constitutes a public health risk to other countries through the international spread of disease and potentially requires a coordinated international response.”
If by December 31, 2022, the WHO declares that the spread of monkeypox presents a public health emergency of international concern this market will resolve to “Yes”.
