Will the WHO declare a new Global Health Emergency in 2024?
Market Rules
The World Health Organization (WHO) can declare a Global Health Emergency when facing an “extraordinary event that constitutes a public health risk to other countries through the international spread of disease and potentially requires a coordinated international response.” COVID-19 and monkeypox achieved this status in 2020 and 2022.
If between January 1st and December 31, 2024, the WHO declares that the spread of some disease constitutes a Global Health Emergency this market will resolve to “Yes”. Existing global health emergencies on January 1st, 2024, will not be considered valid to resolve this market.
