Serbia to normalize relations with Kosovo in 2024?

Serbia is undergoing reforms to enable its accession to the European Union, to which the country officially applied in 2009. However, the first requirement in Chapter 35 of the accession document is that Serbia must normalize relations with Kosovo before being granted membership. Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in 2009, but Serbia still considers it to be an insurgent province, even though more than 100 other countries recognize Kosovo's autonomy.
If by December 31, 2024, the European Union officially declares that either Serbia has successfully normalized relations with Kosovo, or that Serbia's engagement to normalize these relations has been sufficient to access the EU, this market will resolve to “Yes”.
