Market Rules

Brazilian President Lula da Silva’s plea for votes to Guilherme Boulos — a pre-candidate for São Paulo’s mayorship — in a political union event on Labor Day ignited oppositors to complaints about anticipated electoral campaign and diversion of public resources, to the point of denouncing the actions to the electoral justice. If endorsed, the demand could lead to the challenging of Boulos’ candidate register and Lula’s ineligibility, according to the Complementary Law 64 of 1990;

This market aims to predict if Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) will have his candidacy for mayor of São Paulo invalidated by the Brazilian electoral Justice during the municipal elections of 2024, or — in case he does run and get elected — be prevented from taking office. To resolve this market to “Yes”, the invalidation of Boulos’ candidacy must be determined by the electoral justice.

If Boulos does not formally register his candidacy for mayor by August 15, 2024, this market will be canceled and all active wagers will be returned to their respective forecasters.
