Will the US Congress compel the release of more Epstein files in 2025?

Market Rules

This market resolves “Yes” if, before 23:59 (UTC-5) on December 31, 2025:

    1. The US Congress takes a binding legal action that, under existing law, requires the Department of Justice (DOJ) or Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to release records related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Qualifying actions include a House or Senate‑issued subpoena authorized under chamber or committee rules; a valid “rule‑of‑five” or “rule‑of‑seven” request under 5 U.S.C. § 2954; a statutory disclosure requirement enacted through a bill or joint resolution signed into law; or any other legally enforceable instrument compelling such disclosure. Non‑binding actions, such as public letters, simple resolutions, or voluntary requests, do not qualify.
    2. After such qualifying congressional action and before the deadline, the DOJ or FBI must publicly release at least one record from the Epstein investigation that was not already publicly available before the congressional action. The release may be partial or redacted, but must originate from DOJ or FBI official channels, such as press releases, online reading‑room postings, or other official public disclosures. The release does not need to state that it was caused by the congressional action explicitly, but it must take place after the congressional action and before the end of 2025.

This market’s resolution will rely on official congressional records, DOJ/FBI public release logs or announcements, and reputable news outlets that clearly cite or reproduce these official records. If both conditions are met, the market resolves “Yes.” If either condition is not met by the deadline, the market resolves “No.”
