Will another justice of Brazil's Supreme Court retire by the end of June 2026?
Market Rules
This market will resolve based on whether any sitting member of Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court (STF) publicly announces their retirement after Justice Luís Roberto Barroso’s announcement on October 9, 2025, and on or before June 30, 2026. For the purpose of this market, an “announcement” means a public and formal communication by the justice themself or by the STF confirming the decision to retire, regardless of the effective date of departure. The Primary Designated Source (PDS) will be official releases published on the Supremo Tribunal Federal website or official statements from the STF’s press office.
If these official sources are unavailable or unclear, Futuur will rely on consistent reporting from reputable news outlets, chosen at Futuur’s discretion, confirming that another justice has publicly announced their retirement after Barroso’s. Futuur will resolve the market according to the substantive fact of such an announcement, prioritizing fairness and intent over minor technical details or timing. If no additional retirement announcement occurs by June 30, 2026, the market will resolve to “No.”
