Spain's Constitutional Court to review the Catalan leaders' amnesty by the end of 2024?

Market Rules

Pedro Sánchez was reelected president of the government in Spain in mid-November 2023 by promising to the two separatist Catalan parties represented in Congress the approval of an amnesty to the secessionist leaders and activists involved in the 2017 riots, such as Carles Puigdemont. As the bill is analyzed in Congress, the Popular Party stated it will present an appeal against the future law to the Constitutional Court.

This market aims to predict if, on or by December 31st, 2024, the Spanish Constitutional Court will accept the appeal against the amnesty to the Catalan leaders, voted in Congress.

The acceptance of an appeal by the Constitutional Court to issue an opinion will be sufficient to resolve this market as “Yes”, with no need to await the content of the opinion. If the court does not accept the appeal — or if the amnesty gets nullified or made impossible before turning into law — this market will resolve to “No”
