Will Brazil adopt Daylight Saving Time again in 2025?
Market Rules
Brazil abolished Daylight Saving Time in 2019 under President Jair Bolsonaro's administration, ending a practice that had been in place since 1985. This market predicts whether by October 30, 2025, Brazil will officially announce the implementation of Daylight Saving Time (Horário de Verão) at any point during the 2025 calendar year.
If by the end of October the Brazilian federal government officially announces the reinstatement of Daylight Saving Time for any period during 2025, the market will resolve to "Yes" at the moment the announcement is made. The implementation must cover at least one Brazilian state or the Federal District, regardless of whether it's nationwide or regional.
If Daylight Saving Time is announced before the end of October 2025 but implementation is scheduled for 2026, the market resolves to "No" (since no implementation occurred in 2025). If Brazil implements a modified time change system that serves the same purpose as traditional Daylight Saving Time but uses different terminology, the market resolves to "Yes" if it functions substantially like DST.
This market will be resolved based on official announcements from the Brazilian government or confirmed reporting from credible Brazilian news outlets.
