Will Colombia close its embassy in ... in 2026?
Market Rules
This event predicts whether Colombia will close its embassies in the countries listed below at any point between August 18 and December 31, 2026. Each of the markets below covers one country and resolves on its own; any number of these markets may resolve to "Yes". A market resolves to "Yes" if the Colombian embassy in that country is officially closed — that is, Colombia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cancillería) officially confirms the closure or definitive cessation of operations of the embassy — with effect between August 18th and December 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM Colombia time (04:59 UTC on January 1, 2027).
Announcements of intent or planned closures that have not taken effect do not qualify on their own. Downgrading the mission (e.g., to chargé d'affaires level), recalling the ambassador, or a break in diplomatic relations without the embassy actually ceasing operations do not qualify by themselves. Conversely, an executed closure qualifies whether or not diplomatic relations are formally broken. Once a market's condition is first met, its resolution is final and irrevocable, even if the embassy is later reopened.
The Primary Designated Source is official communiqués from Colombia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cancillería). A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
