Will the Essential Workers Bill of Rights pass in Congress in 2020?
Market Rules
A proposal for an Essential Workers Bill of Rights has been presented to the US Congress by Representative Ro Khanna and Senator Elizabeth Warren, both Democrats. If approved, the bill will benefit around 60 million workers in the US.
The proposal suggests 10 types of protections for security and health professionals, domestic, grocery and drug store employees, warehouse workers, transportation workers, rural workers and others. The measures include security and health protection, premium payments for duty in the current moment, protections for collective bargaining agreements, universal paid sick leave and more.
If the refered bill is approved by the end of 2020, this question will only be resolved as “Yes”.
If, instead, elements of the proposal pass in a different form, such as, for instance, part of a relief package or other legislation, this question will be resolved as “No”.
