Will an arrest warrant be issued against Abraham Weintraub?
Market Rules
Abraham Weintraub has left his position as Brazil's Minister of education, but remained a controversial figure in the countryl's political turmoil. His name is associated to attacks against the Supreme Court, participation in anti-democratic demonstrations, and even racist publications on social networks, for which he is being investigated.
Justices of Brazil's Supreme Court (STF) decided to keep the former minister as part of the so-called "fake news" inquiry. There are pending requests to conduct a search and seizure of his cell phones and computers, and one parliamentarian went as far as calling for his temporary or preventive arrest. Despite having left to the United States immediatly after quitting his position in the Ministry of Education, many say he might still face legal issues domestically, with a potential order of arrest not being completely dismissed.
If Brazilian authorities issue an arrest warrant is issued against Abraham Weintraub by December 31, 2020, this market will be resolved as "Yes", even if the warrant only calls for a temporary or preventive arrest.
