Ecuador to improve its score in the 2025 Democracy Report ranking

The Varieties of Democracy Research Project (V-Dem) is based in the University of Gothenburg and studies democracy and democratization of countries, combining different core principles of this type of regime (electoral, liberal, majoritarian, consensual, participatory, deliberative, egalitarian) into a single index.

This scholarly political science effort of the V-Dem Institute generates yearly Democracy Reports, accounting for the different levels of democratization worldwide. In the most recent reports, Ecuador appeared among the Electoral Democracies of the world, ranking at 66 in the V-Dem’s Liberal Democracy Index for 2024.

If Ecuador’s position in the ranking by score in the 2025 Democracy Report from Institute V-Dem improves in comparison to its position in the same ranking from 2024, this market will resolve to “Yes”.
