Will the Federal Police of Brazil conduct a search related to João Dória in 2021?
Market Rules
In 2020, Brazil's Federal Police conducted a search of Palácio das Laranjeiras, the official residence of Rio de Janeiro's governor, Wilson Witzel. The so-called Placebo operation was authorized by Minister Benedito Gonçalves, from the STJ (Superior Court of Justice), and targets an alleged scheme of embezzlement of public resources destined to fight coronavirus in the state.
Witzel denied having committed any irregularities, and pointed to possible interference from his political rival, President Jair Bolsonaro, in the course of the investigation. This fact put other opponents of the president on alert, particularly governors who have opposed his policy regarding the new coronavirus pandemic, such as João Dóia, Flávio Dino, and Wilson Miranda.
If by December 31, 2021, the governor of São Paulo (João Dória) becomes the target in an operation by the Federal Police in the context of an investigation related to the misuse of public funds, and such operation includes the conduction of a search in any location, property or vehicle directly related to him, this market will be resolved as "Yes".
