Average annual rise in sea level in the next report prepared by the IPCC

Market Rules

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) gathers every six years all the existing scientific literature in the field of climate and publishes a document that presents the global consensus on the effects of human activity on global warming. In 2021, the sixth report brought a series of data and forecasts for the coming decades.

With high confidence, the report observed that the oceans are rising more and more, nearing 4.2 mm per year. It also takes for granted that such levels will continue to rise, with the possibility of reaching up to 1.01 m by the end of the century, in the worst-case scenario.

The next IPCC is expected to take place in 2028 and will reveal whether the rise in sea levels was more or less intense that what had been predicted in 2021.

The alternative that contains the average annual rise in sea level between 2021 and 2027 will be considered the winning outcome of this market. This market will be resolved based on the IPCC report from 2028.
