Will Jerome Powell leave the office of Chair of the Federal Reserve System in 2023?
Market Rules
Jerome Powell has held office as head of the Federal Reserve since 2018. He’s been reconducted to office in 2022 for a second term, which runs until May 15th, 2026.
Powell’s administration has been targeted by harsh critics due to the historic basic interest rate hikes it’s promoted in response to the sticking inflationary increase. The hikes’ applied intensity and speed have been broadly questioned by media observers and economic agents.
If Jerome Powell announces his departure from the office of Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System by December 31st, 2023, this market will resolve to “Yes”, even if the effective departure only takes place after the end of 2023.
