Will China allow banking operations using virtual currencies again in 2026?

Market Rules

This event predicts whether Chinese authorities will officially allow banks or financial institutions to conduct operations involving virtual currencies at any time between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026 (inclusive). The Primary Designated Source (PDS) will be official regulations or announcements issued by the People’s Bank of China or other relevant Chinese regulators.

If Chinese regulators officially authorize banks or financial institutions to operate with virtual currencies during this period, this market will resolve to "Yes". Otherwise, it will resolve to "No". Policies limited solely to the digital yuan (e-CNY) will not count. If official regulations are ambiguous, the Secondary Confirmation Mechanism (SCM) will rely on consistent reporting from major Chinese or international financial news organizations. Resolution will reflect substantive regulatory permission, not pilot discussions. If a definitive determination cannot be made, Futuur may cancel this market with a public explanation.
