Total area of dead Coral Reefs to increase in comparison to 2021?
Market Rules
The 6th climate report from the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN), published in October 2021, showed that about 14% of the world's coral reefs have been lost since 2009 due to climate change. The rise in temperature and acidity of the sea has led to the massive death of coral reefs, which are the basis of the food chain of many important species, playing a fundamental role in marine ecosystems.
If the 7th report of GCRMN indicates that the area of dead coral reefs in the world represents more than 14% of the total extension of living coral reefs in 2009, this market will resolve to "Yes".
The 7th report from GCRMN is expected to be released in 2023.
Note from the Editor (November 1st, 2024): The expected date for the release of the 7th report from GCRMN was pushed back to 2026. The deadline to bet on this market was updated to reflect that reality.
