Will Elon Musk remain the majority owner of Twitter through the end of 2023?

Market Rules

If Elon Musk continues to be the majority owner of Twitter — i.e. if he continues to own more than 50% of the company — through December 31st, 2023, this market will resolve to "Yes".

If Elon Musk ceases to be the majority owner of Twitter at any point before the end of 2023, this market will immediately resolve to "No", even if there is still a chance he becomes once again the majority owner of the company by the end of the year.

Examples of hypothetical situations that represent the interruption of Musk's status as majority owner of Twitter include (but are not restricted to):

  • Partial of total sale of the company — be it through a private transaction with another controller or by taking the company public once again — in such a way that Musk's portion of Twitter's capital is lower than 50% of the company's capital
  • Bankruptcy that results in closing the company
  • Expropriation, forced transfer of ownership, death, or any other legal measure that prevents Elon Musk from owning more than 50% of the company's capital

Any situation that represents the interruption of Elon Musk's status as majority owner of Twitter must be officially confirmed by the company, reputable media outlets, Elon Musk himself, or his legal representatives.
