Will the winner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup be a country that has never won it before?

Market Rules

This market predicts whether the winner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be a country that has never previously won a FIFA World Cup (men's tournament). The countries that have previously won the men's FIFA World Cup are:

  • Uruguay (1930, 1950),
  • Italy (1934, 1938, 1982, 2006),
  • Germany / West Germany (1954, 1974, 1990, 2014),
  • Brazil (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002),
  • England (1966),
  • Argentina (1978, 1986, 2022),
  • France (1998, 2018),
  • Spain (2010).

If the winner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final is a country other than these eight, this market will resolve to "Yes". If the winner is any of these eight countries, this market will resolve to "No". The Primary Designated Source is the official FIFA website (fifa.com) and FIFA's official communications. A consensus of credible reporting may be used to confirm the winner. If the tournament is canceled, abandoned without a champion, or postponed and not concluded, this market may be canceled.

Eventual changes that lead to a different team being crowned champion of the World Cup after the World Cup Final have been played will not affect the resolution of this market. Only the team that wins the tournament and lifts the trophy on the day of the World Cup final will be taken into account for resolving this market.
