Will Jeremy Hunt be chancellor of the Exchequer through the end of 2022?
Market Rules
Following the flawed reception of his “mini-budget” proposal, the United Kingdom’s chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng presented a resignation letter to prime minister Liz Truss. Truss left office shortly after that with plunging popularity but Kwarteng’s substitute, Jeremy Hunt, remained in office. As the head of Finance in prime minister Rishi Sunak’s cabinet, Hunt shall face challenges such as presenting a budget proposal and austere reforms in an unfavorable economic context.
If by December 31st, 2022, Jeremy Hunt either gets removed from the office of chancellor of the Exchequer, publicly announces that he will be leaving office, or presents a resignation letter that is accepted by the prime minister in charge, this market will resolve to “No”.
