Will Elon Musk buy TikTok by April 5?
Market Rules
This market aims to predict whether, on or before April 5, 2025, an official announcement will be made confirming that Elon Musk has acquired or will acquire TikTok, either as a sole buyer or as a stakeholder in a joint acquisition with other parties, in which case it will resolve as “Yes”. "Buy TikTok" is defined as Musk (or an entity directly controlled by him) obtaining an equity stake in TikTok (or its parent company, ByteDance) that is explicitly tied to ownership or operational control of the platform in the US. The announcement of the acquisition will be sufficient to resolve the market, even if the deal has not yet been finalized by the resolution date.
Verification will rely on official statements from Elon Musk, ByteDance, or TikTok, as well as announcements from financial or regulatory bodies directly involved in the transaction. Reports from reputable media outlets may also be used to confirm the announcement. The market will resolve as "Yes" if Musk's involvement as a buyer or stakeholder is explicitly confirmed, regardless of whether the acquisition is shared with other parties.
If no official announcement is made by April 5, 2025, confirming Musk’s acquisition or involvement as a stakeholder in the purchase of TikTok, the market will resolve as "No." Speculative reports or informal statements that do not confirm a definitive deal will not satisfy the market’s conditions. In cases of ambiguity or conflicting information, priority will be given to official statements or widely recognized and reputable media reports.
