Ethereum quantum-resistant upgrade implemented in 2026?
Market Rules
If a quantum-resistant protocol upgrade is activated on the Ethereum mainnet by December 31, 2026, 23:59 PM UTC, this market will resolve to "Yes". To qualify, the upgrade must be a protocol-level change (consensus layer or execution layer) that is live and enforced on the Ethereum mainnet by the deadline, and it must enable the use of a post-quantum-secure signature scheme — for user transactions or for validator signatures — that is valid under Ethereum protocol rules and generally available for use on mainnet, even if its use is optional or not yet widely adopted.
An upgrade that enables accounts to use post-quantum signature verification at the protocol level (e.g., via native account abstraction) qualifies, provided post-quantum-secure verification is actually available on mainnet by the deadline. Roadmaps, research proposals, EIP drafts, testnet activations, wallet-level changes, off-chain solutions, and layer-2 systems do not qualify on their own. "Activated" means the upgrade's rules are enforced on Ethereum mainnet under protocol rules following a completed network upgrade (hard fork).
