Will OpenAI be acquired in 2025?
Market Rules
This market aims to predict whether OpenAI (or OpenAI Inc., the nonprofit that controls OpenAI) will be acquired by another entity before December 31, 2025, at 23:59 (UTC-3). For the purpose of this market, an acquisition includes deals where OpenAI is fully subsumed into another entity or loses its operational independence due to a merger or takeover.
Internal reorganizations, leadership changes, spin-offs, or rebranding efforts will not qualify as an acquisition.
The market will resolve as "Yes" if an official announcement confirming OpenAI’s acquisition is made by OpenAI, the acquiring entity, Sam Altman, or other OpenAI board members. The deal does not need to be completed at the time of the announcement. The official confirmation alone will be sufficient to resolve the market to "Yes". If official announcements are unavailable, credible media reports may be used as verification.
